HYG (Hamzah Youth Group) Mission
Statement:
To help guide and motivate young Muslim boys and girls to be
committed to their faith and to proudly embody it in every aspect of their
lives.
The highlights of this program are:
1) It
is lead by "guides and mentors" and not necessarily "instructors
and teachers".
2) It is gradual in its approach with
the goal of leading the youth to learn, love, and practice Islam one step at a
time.
3) The Sunday gatherings could be Halaqahs (study circles), outings, volunteer work, sports,
seminars, trips
etc.
4) Some of these functions above may
involve (in)direct learning while others may be just pure Halal
fun.
5) The topics are prepared and presented
by the youth themselves opening the floor for discussions and Q&A.
6) Youth character development and
behavior improvement are the keys versus the amount of information gained.
7) As mentors notice character and
behavior changes in the youth they adjust appropriately to meet HYGs goals.
8) Islamic information sources are
presented by various means in such a way to be relevant to the youth today.
9) Appropriate Arabic language curriculum
is also included for a more comprehensive Islamic learning experience.
10) HYG will eventually become self sustaining where the youth leaders within
it will both lead and run it Insha Allah.
Teenaged boys and girls: Please
join us for our weekly Hamzah Youth Halaqah (study circle)
