Alsalam Alikum brothers and sisters,

Alhamdu Lillah, we get to enjoy one more blessed day of Ramadan since the moon was not sighted anywhere in the world. Therefore, Eid will be on Sunday Insha Allah.

There will be three Eid prayers in the outdoor soccer field Insha Allah: 7:30, 8:45 and 10:00 AM. And just like Friday prayers, we regret that we are not be able to accommodate women and children as that will take the space of someone who is required to attend.

The Coronavirus pandemic is still extremely dangerous and every precaution must be taken to ensure the safety of everyone. Yet, Hamzah Islamic Center is not responsible for anyone who may contract the virus at its premises.

We all must comply with the following rules to ensure our safety:

  1. EVERYONE MUST WEAR A MASK. Some wore a mask but left it underneath the mouth. The mask must cover both mouth and nose to protect the people sitting in your area from an accidental coughing or sneezing. Please do not make your follow Muslim uncomfortable by taking this rule lightly. We are required to enforce it
  2. Socks are required too
  3. No man 65 or older is permitted. This is a rule set by the  CDC to save their lives and we are legally required to enforce it. Older men will be asked to go back to their cars and wait. Please know that it pains us to take such measures
  4. No women or children. We understand it is Sunnah for women and children to attend Eid but these are difficult times. We pray to Allah for the pandemic to be over soon
  5. No shaking hands, hugging or any form of socializing will be allowed. 6 FEET DISTANCE MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES. Even members of the same family must remain apart so that the rule of social distancing is not confused by anyone
  6. People will be allowed in on a first-come-first-serve basis. People will be asked to attend the next prayer once we reach our capacity based on social distance rule
  7. Bring your own Mussallah
  8. Please follow the directions of our volunteers. They work extremely hard to make our prayers possible for us. They get their rewards from Allah Insha Allah and they deserve our thanks and cooperation
  9. We need additional volunteers so please come forward and reply to this email if you are willing to dedicate some of your time to help us manage the prayers. Please email us at board@masjidhamzah.com if you are interested in helping us out with any volunteer activities
  10. Please come early as the Salah of Eid is before Khutbah
  11. There will be no speaker systems as the County has put that rule upon us when we went for zoning

Please pay your Fitr Zakah ahead of time using our website. It is $10 per family member. We provide Fitr boxes on Eid day as a convenience but note that you must put the money in the boxes PRIOR to performing the Salah.

We are also asking a donation of $20 per family to cover Eid Masjid expenses.

Masjid Hamzah will open for the five daily Salah praying outdoors starting Monday May 25th Insha Allah with the same rules listed above.

May Allah protect us all and guide us all.

However, few points to make on Eid:

The schools of Fiqh differed on how obligatory Eid Salah is (Wajib in Hanafi, Fard Kefayah in Hanbali, and Sunnah Muakkadda in Shafi and Maliki). However, everyone agreed that Jumaa is Fard in normal times. Therefore, people who do not feel comfortable praying Jumaa should feel greater apprehension about praying Eid which has a lesser degree of obligation. We understand the social and religious value of Eid but it should never be greater than Jumaa
In a Hadith narrated by Muslim, The Sahabah used to travel in Ramadan with prophet Muhammad PBUH. Some will fast and some will break their fast. Neither side will look down at the other side as doing something less than ideal.

Similarly, the people who want to attend Jumaa/Eid and the people who are concerned about their safety are equally right in our humble opinion. The Masjid simply provides the facility for those who wish to participate.

You can perform Eid Salah at home with your family if you like.

We will announce the date of Eid on Friday Insha Allah as we follow the global sighting (either Saturday or Sunday)

The same rules that we have set for Friday prayers apply to Eid and we are listing them here once again:

EVERYONE MUST WEAR A MASK. Some wore a mask but left it underneath the mouth. The mask must cover both mouth and nose to protect the people sitting in your area from an accidental coughing or sneezing. Please do not make your follow Muslim uncomfortable by taking this rule lightly. We are required to enforce it.
